Type A or B, or Piggy for you miss?

The flu has hit my parent's homestead.  My dad is actually in the hospital and my mom is still sick according to the message.  Nice info early on a Friday- day off morning.

As you've p'bly read before they live out in the boonies of So. Co. somewheres.  No I have yet to visit their homestead and I think they've been there for 2 yrs now.  I know, *hanging head in shame/guilt*  I should drive my ass out there.  It will only take 2 days or so...WTH?, right?  Tho, if I go, I have to go thro the barren land we now call Arizona, talk about not much to look at via Hwy #10, I believe it is, and of course, very, very sketchy cell service and after you enter the Az freeways no Hwy phones for emergency calls either *sniff*  Then, off into faboo So. Utah...so much fun to drive thro the Green River route...can we talk some more desert and rocks here folks?

There is a sign when you are about to enter the Green River stretch of 141 miles of pure nothingness...*ahem* bliss I mean, yeah bliss.  It states, get gas, get food now.  No food, gas, hospitals, bathrooms, etc. for 141 miles.  I'm pretty sure there is no cell service either.  Lovely.

I know you two...your thinking "why not fly?"  Ok, well I just checked Southwest, who doesn't fly into Co., but they do fly into NM.  We are talking $500 round trip.  Hey, what?  Like do I have a money tree out in my backyard?  Or maybe I'm like Tony Soprano
and have it in a hole in the backyard or a corner spot under the pool deck.  Yeah, let me go get my cash now.

All of that aside, my mom did not give me the entire phone # to said hospital my dad is at.  I hope by now he has been discharged and they are on their way back home.  To say, I'm just a little worried ALL day is an understatement, but barring praying for things to be A-ok with both of them there isn't much I can do here, but fret.

Ahhhh well, tis another chink in life.  Anybody up for a fantabuluus road trip with me?  I hear the skiing is most xcellent out in CO. and UT. this time of yr.

  1. I'll road trip with you! Hell, after tackling the Dakotas by myself, getting lost in Death Valley, etc. - the ride to CO sounds like a piece of cake! Okay, not really, but I'm sure we could make it...interesting. And fun. :-)
