Lost In Translation

A little thing called the Internet, aka the World Wide Web is a great thing.  It links all sorts of individuals together in a global community.  There are social networking sites such as FaceBook and Twitter, there are support groups, sites to self diagnose a medical problem WebMD and sports sites like Slowtwitch and Kickrunning.

This medium can become a little tricky when posting on said sites, or even translation through email can become a tad sticky, even if you are emailing someone that has known you all of your life.  Let alone a new friend, that is getting used to all your strange quirks and multiple personality behavior flaws.  There are only so many smiley faces you can add, ya know?

Even when texting you can run into translation disturbances.  The best medium of course is face to face, and/or the old fashioned telephone, but how many of us nowadays pick up the phone to call someone that lives across the states or for that matter in another country all together?

Yeah, thought not.  With texting plans, internet and email access we are connected 24/7 pretty much.

I've had my share of translation disturbances just in these last 2 weeks.  I mean at least over the phone you get some idea when someone is in a pissy frame of mind.  You're like, ok....won't go there right now, but on the "net" you don't get that inflection.  It is only after the fact, when you've really stuck your foot in your mouth online that...huh?  Me knows now that it wasn't the nite to be flip with them or joke...ha-ha.....

There is always the knee jerk reaction response that I hold near and dear to me.  At least on the phone or in person one is not so apt to open thy mouth and let shit fly without waiting a sec or two and thinking about it.  Online or texting that seems to go out the window for alot of us.  Our fingers take control and type things so wickedly fast and hit that "send/enter" key without so much as a thought really.

It's only after it is sent and out there that we think HOLY SHIT!!  So bad, too sad, cuz for the most part we can't retrieve it no matter how much we want to.

  1. All SO true, my dear, so true. Love you! Btw, I laughed out loud when I got to your last comic/cartoon there - that's a classic if there ever was one! ;-)
