Hey All,
How's it going? Happy SP/Irish holiday to all of my 2 readers. Hope you enjoy and partake in some Guinness later and maybe some bangers for good measure. Luck of the Irish and all today.
Today, well this morn started out sorta craptacular in a way. Didn't sleep so hot last nite. Woke up and tossed and turned around 4ish to 6ish. Sore throat, sinus HA...yeah, I've been contaminated my peeps, blech!! I figured it would eventually attack being that my entire family unit has been sick like dogs on/off for the last 3 wks. I was really hoping like hell that I wouldn't get contaminated.
Guess all that finger crossing and wishing was a waste of precious energy on my part. Tho, fortunately it is all in my head right now, so I'm doing what I do daily and trying to not to give into the "I feel like monkey crap" syndrome. Not a good syndrome to have let me tell ya. I even had to cancel a St. Patty's day lunch feast with my BF Patti. For God's sake! That is horrible!
Like I said, I'm not sick enuf (even if I was it p'bly wouldn't stop me too much) to not go out for my daily run. Today I had speedwork, thank you Brian http://www.accelerate3.com/ *ahem*, anyhooo in my feverish state I decided to do hills today....whoohoo! Yeah, whatever already. I take the 1st part of the run slow to moderate, pacing myself for the hill work to come. I find an awesome dirt hill.
Of course, full of rocks, erosion channels from all of the rain and just a regular festival of delite. This deliteful hill was approx 1/2 mile long, then it leveled somewhat and there were two more shorter, steeper hills to conquer. I did this one hill section a couple of times with no mishap. So, I see another area less traveled, and go down it, decent enuf hill climb/run back up and I do this one. I decide, "ok" gots myself some xtra time to go still, so I hit two shorter hills that I do from time to time. Same erosion patterns, slightly steeper, but hey, I've done these before, piece of cake! On my last hill, I'm actually done with the hill, but running down it. I hit a section that is slanted. Now mind you I'm not wearing "trail shoes", but my Lunar trainers,
This is nothing compared to the battle scars and constant crashes I had when I mountain biked alot. Tho, I have to admit this was a very hard fall on my hip. Luckily I have great bones or I would've had a broken hip I'm sure.
I think my all time worst crash was when I was on my MTB and I went endo aka head over my handle bars
*This is not me, tho that is nice soft dirt.*
while going down hill. I was clipped in, so I'm sure there for a moment I was quite the sight, tumbling thru the air with my bike in tow. Luckily I landed in some brush. Double lucky is that I had my helmet on and that protected my nose from being broken or smashed and my front teeth from being extracted by impact. My helmet split in two different spots that day, YEOW! I got home, and my son stated, "mom you just don't look right." Ummm, ya think dude? I had road rash along my entire face, nose areas, my right arm was rashed up from the shoulder down and my legs were scrapped up from my bike chain, teeth, etc. My Oakleys even snapped. From personal experience Oakleys are very tuf and not easy to break, at least the frames. Tho even the lenses are tuf to snap. Sooo, yeah, that was a fall I never want to duplicate again.
As you can tell I'm not very graceful and I can be sorta accident prone. Sooooo *raising my glass* Here's to all the two of you having a safe and fall free SP day!!! I'm going to go put my rubber, bubble suit on now and watch for the grout that may be just a little bit higher than other spots while walking across my kitchen floor.
HAPPY ST. PATTY's DAY my friends!!!
