I go from hot to cold, tho that could be the coffee I have just ingested. Now if I was to go to any local ED with a fever > 100.0, they would admit me and slap me into isolation to R/O H1N1...aka Piggy flu.
Yep, let me tell ya how tired I am of getting all dressed up in my CDC of the month apparel to assess and provide patient care. Actually, I do understand the need to play dress up. Tho, I personally think it is sort of redundant in a big way. Who am I to question the Infectious Disease militia being the lowly ICU nurse that I are. I mean the ID militia never keeps to what is protocol for longer than a 24hr period. Once I think, k....put gown on, use 100% alcohol gel on hands, put N-95 mask on--check! Ooops, put gloves on---double check! Close isolation room doors, hope like hell they don't stick and you can get out of the room. Always a laugh or two let me tell ya.
Take off all ID militia garb before exiting room, use skin removing 100% alcohol gel on hands, then proceed to wash hands with 100% alcohol infused bacterial soap. Repeat this procedure as many times as possible in an hour, then add 11 more hours to this for your shift.
Now I ask, what is not to thoroughly enjoy about this entire process?
