Just got thru talking with my mom, whom is the greatest being on the planet. Love ya mom! Anyhow, was asking her for one of my bro's phone #'s. Just in case the one I've had for the last umpteen yrs is in-communicado. Tho, being the wonderful sis that I am, you would think I would know what his phone # is and my baby bro...I have no clue. Yeah, well tar and feather me now, isn't that what took place back in the day? Unfortunately I did not come from the Cleaver household. Remember Beaver? Like the boy, beaver? Not the other beaver for goodness sake. For one my mom, nor I walk will walk around our houses like June did with pearls and highheels daily, dusting, cleaning out the oven, toilets and other ick. Frick girl what was wrong with you? The Cleavers were "The Fam" back in the day. I'm not sure that was realistic even back in the day? Tell me what realistic family sits around reading one book to each other and the kids say, "Gee dad are you swell or what?" Like let me go vomit now.
Personally my family then and now fortunately or unfortunately dependent on your view, take more after the Simpson group of misfits. Tho, they are pretty exaggerated, I can relate more to them than I can the Cleavers of the 60's. At least Marge knows how to dress on a day to day basis sensibly. I mean, a dress daily....wouldn't agree and strapless at that. Doesn't she know those things are a pain in the ass to keep up? Tho I will give her credit for wearing flats for the most part.
Oooops, I remembered a few things from my earlier thought (yeah, just blame it on my age already).
(1) You can blame all your genetic flaws on the previous generations, yay or nay! Dependent on your medical history.

(2) Genetics does not really come into play with dates, table manners or chivalry. You are pretty much on your own and better uphold the goods my peeps.
3) Yes you are your mom/dad's son/daughter, but that does not give you the right to behave badly just because of influence, example, etc. By the time you are of 18 you should know better....period!
4) Last but not least, stop blaming. Own up to your actions, faults, defects, decide that you have the choice to stop or change your preceptions/actions and do so. Then get on with life and enjoy it.

I have kid(s) who blame me occassionally for how they are...and they aren't even full fledged adults yet. What the monkey! And dudes and dudette you better get the fuck over it! I won't shoulder your crap....no way, no how! I've tried on/off and it ain't pretty.
Guess my bottom line with all this is that I love and trust my family. I know they will be there fore me....sometimes delayed, but be there none the less. Just knowing that fact gives me comfort.
We watch "Intervention" and last night was particularly pathetic. The guy kept blaming his addictions on his dad being an asshole. He is 38 for crying out loud. Stand up and be an adult and accept responsibility for your own stupidity. I hate that crap.
ReplyDeleteI think I could only stomach Intervention x1 time. It was just too much, ack!
ReplyDeleteWe also watch Hoarders. Actually, I should say that I do. Hubby hates it. I also watch the freak medical shows on Discovery Channel.
ReplyDeleteIntervention? I tried that crap once & It exploded-ed-ed-ed right back ack!!
