Eating my way thru Chicago...... Part Dos

Sooooooo, as it were out there in Al Capone land.  I ate pretty much everything.  Now I definitely cut myself some slack, and kept reminding myself that I was in taper mode after all.  I had to push calories for the upcoming marathon and what not.  When I would forget to push cals, Ms. Tasha would so gently remind me to, "Frickin Eat Woman!"  Eat!

OOooops, getting ahead of myself just a little bit.  You are wondering, what transpired before all the eating of Chicago nibbles.  Welp, I stayed with Tasha and her HRH=The Kone.  Gee, where have you peeps been, if you don't know who the Kone is?  Anyhow, Tasha lives in Chicago, not in the city itself per se, but the city.  Yeah, well....it's Chicago after all.  Let's just say Tasha runs a very tight ship where the Kone is concerned.  He is very polite, let's you have the front seat of the small SUV she drives around,  makes sure he does not step on your tender feets, that will be running said marathon in just days, and he makes sure you have a comfy place on the couch, and he will lay on the floor if need be.  Yes, that is the Kone.

I have to admit, it took the Kone and I a tad bit of time to adjust to one another, but after that we were swell friends.

Ok, ok, I will get back to the eating part of this installment.  Tho I would be remiss if I did not mention the Kone, cuz after all he was a big part of "the eating" process too.  You see, he would get leftovers.  Yes, yes, he loved all the leftovers.

My goal, other than running the marathon, sheesh!  You guys...........what?  You think I just went to Chicago for a little 26.2 mile run?   I had to eat and shop for gawds sake.  What kind of tourist would I be, if I didn't do that?  First stop was Michigan Ave.  Home of Nordy's, Bloomie's, mucho designer stores, and eats of course.  After shopping for a bit.  We headed to Pizza Dues.  OMG!!  True Chicago deep dish, and it was soooo yummy good, that I can't even begin to explain it to you.

It was a truly amazing piece of pizza.  If you know anything about me at all, you know that I consider pizza it's own food group.  Yes, that is how much I love pizza, and fabulous pizza is a real treat.  This was a definite real treat.  Top it off with Chicago Fannie May chocolates,  and well, yep, go ahead make the piggy-piggy noises.  You are just jealous is all.  As you should be.

Later in the week, it was a must for me not only to have Chicago pizza, but to have a Chicago dog.  We went to this spectacular place called SuperDawg's.  I mean how can you go wrong with his and her wieners on top of your restaurant?  Really?  How can you?  Holy crap this hot dog was really good!    Do you see a theme here or what?  Tasha ordered what was considered the "classic Chicago dog" for me.  Oh, and for good measure we chased the dogs with a few fries, some onion chips and chocolate malts.  Hey, you r'mber I'm chowing for the marathon.  Don't even shake your head.

Last, but not least of Chicago eats was the Italian steak sandwich.  It was huge, and yummy.  I would say, it was sorta like a Philly cheese steak without the cheese, and a lot more steak than I have had in a Philly, out here in Ca., not in Philly.  Pretty darn decent for a little eatery in Tasha's hood.

Now don't get me wrong.  I ate plenty more things like, cherry pie topped with Costco vanilla ice cream (man that was good ice cream), had dinner out with Tasha and her mom.  T's mom is such the cutie...loved meeting her.  Ate Italian food a few times.  Soooo much good food out there.  I did not have one bad meal, which was a little surprising in a way.

All in all, if you ever visit Chicago make sure you eat, and then eat some more.  Oh, and in case you are wondering how fat I really am now, well let's just say I lost weight.  Yeah, surprised the hell outta me to.

Next up.....marathon hits, misses, and pain.  Oh yay---not!!
