Bumps in the road....

like really...what else is new?  Went out for my long run this morn, with some tempo work from my wonderful, smart and good looking coach. *cough-cough....wheeeze, sharp choking noise*
K, I've regained my composure...sorta anyways.
My ITB is still acting up and not only affecting my knee, but my quad.  Maybe my quad is acting up due to tight hip flexors or maybe my psoas.  Like really, who the hell knows at this point?  Unfortunately I have the premonition that this malady might haunt me all season.  Even with dynamic warm up stretching/work, massages, resistant stretching, etc.  As long as my RLE doesn't bug me too much while running, I can deal with the after effects of my tight ass muscles.

I also found out this morn, whilst cruising the web and contemplating signing up for the La Jolla 1/2, is that the race is sold out.  I'm not terribly disappointed.  I was using this race as a precursor to the RnR marathon, and I've done the race before.  It surprises me that it has sold out so early.  Tho of course, I've sorta juggled a few things race venue wise since finding out.  It might actually benefit me in a positive way.  At this point in time I'm more than 90%+ sure that I will nix doing the full RnR marathon and just sign up for the 1/2 instead.  I don't really appreciate the RnR course as it is, even with the last 6 mile changes, which I hear from peeps that did it last year, really don't help the race at all.  Plus, RnR SD beats the living shit out my body.
I've done this race 3x in the last 12yrs and it is never merciful to me.  Alot of the race is over concrete overlay on the 163 and the the surfaces for the most part are cambered (aka slanted) for 80% of the race.  Another negative is a good chunk of the course is thru some industrial parts of SD that are truly, TRULY boooring!  So, this is good this change of developments.

I figure, Chicago is my diamond this year.  I will BQ (Boston Qualify) and shoot for the NYC qualifying time too.  Plus, it will be all get out fun!!!
