Our ICU unit was overbrimming with patients for the last few weeks and now we shuffled some around, some finally went to the Celestial Floor because they were long over due and some of our repeat offenders (ya know the DKAs, ODs, etc. that actually get well and leave) are back once again it sounds like. Don't get me wrong I like being busy. I do, but it gets a little trying and frustrating. Frustrating: when family members can't call it a day and let their loved one go, or when we teach and teach and have unlimited support for our repeat offenders and then after all the work they come thru the doors again a few months later. Sorta like a bad penny.
The last day at work I had a cantankerous soul, who thought she was the Queen Bee. Tho, I set her straight about who was in charge of her care that day. She was funny at times, argumentative most of the time and just plain nasty the rest of her stay with me. Tho when we parted ways, and I deposited her on the Med-Surg floor she somehow found a wheelchair and came back to visit me later in the day. Hmmmm, what was that comment I made earlier about the pennies? My other patient was a youngster in my world of nursing. I love it when I nurse the teens. Tho, this guy had a gushing of blood at the end of my shift from a body part that should never gush blood. Lets just say, I threw him a towel and told him to hold pressure against his nether-regions. Long story short, he is good and p'bly doing all the teen things again that teens do. Ya know...another strange day in the Unit to say the least.
It's just hard to figure out what to put in this said care pkg. I asked him if there was anything he needed. He replied back, "no not anything specific, everything is good." "Tho don't send porn, I wouldn't want to have too much fun." Then he puts the requisite LOL. Ummmm, yeah, he has his mother's strange ass sense of humor that is for sure.
As for training....I'm still on a break more or less. Tho I think I will try to get my mileage up somewhat, so the legs don't completely fall off come the 1st of the yr. I got in the pool the other day.
I know!! 1st time in a long time. Can't even r'mber how long. Thought I would need floaties, but all was good. Guess I have enuf FLUFF to float with right now.
Tried an Insanity workout today.
Lord have mercy! It was only 20min, but it kicked my white butt all over the place.
Now if you will excuse me I have to try and get out of this puter chair and hobble to the kitchen.
